On Tuesday 23rd of November, we hosted the ninth iPECS insights Forum of 2021. These monthly webinars help us share important information with our community of partners and are designed to be informative, interactive, and inspirational.

November’s edition of iPECS insights was hosted by Yuno Jung, Head of International Sales at Ericsson-LG Enterprise. The theme of November’s presentation was “Driving digital transformation with essential business applications”, including some key case studies.

Bob Rankin and Matt Bauer from Presence Management, based in the United States, also delivered a presentation on how iPECS emergency features and API integration helped to create more value for their customers, and made their portfolio stand above the rest.

Digital Transformation

Yuno introduced the presentation by highlighting some of the challenges that are accelerating transformation in the business world today, such as supply chain issues, raw material shortages, and labor shortages. Digital transformation can be the gateway to businesses overcoming some of these challenges.

Digital transformation is the adoption of new technology that improves business processes. Transformation is essential for the operations of large businesses around the world like CVS in North America. CVS is a large pharmacy that initially struggled with wait times both in-store and in their drive-through service. The adoption of transformation allowed them to measure wait times, analyze call times, improve workflow and made genuine improvements in just six months, which was reflected by great customer feedback.

This digital transformation also applies to emergency services. iPECS allowed school emergency services across the US to track calls, trigger alarms, emergency notifications and provide faster dispatch notifications in the case of a fire or other emergency.

When businesses adopt the digital transformation towards Cloud, their application attachment rate rises from 12% to 30%. Applications such as Unified Communications, Call Reporting and Web Conferencing provide businesses with a huge amount of additional value and are more appealing to cloud-based users. This is mostly due to the ease of use of these applications when working alongside cloud systems.

iPECS Emergency Features – Presence Management

The second half of November’s presentation was hosted by Bob Rankin and Matthew Bauer from Presence Management. Over their 20 years working with iPECS in the United Sates, the team at Presence Management has innovated greatly and discovered new ways that the iPECS platform can deliver value for businesses.

One of the ways that they achieved this was through Built-in iPECS Emergency Features. During their time working with key verticals, such as education and healthcare, the team at PM felt the need to create a solution that both addressed their communication needs and and supported them during an emergency.

Built-in iPECS features that supported businesses during an emergency include direct dial for 911, Bomb Threat and emergency call monitoring. Emergency messages can be automatically delivered across all a business’s phone system and also on-screen, strobe lights can even be connected. System alarms can also be added to iPECS Unified systems.

External Control Contacts on iPECS systems allow teams to control critical functions on site, such as door controls. Flexible Paging systems can trigger up to 50 different notifications depending on the situation.

In many educational or medical facilities, there’s need for a ‘help’ button to call for assistance. iPECS integration with Local API servers allows for calls to be placed using a help button to on-site or emergency services. This can also be used in commercial and business spaces to trigger a panic button and initiate lockdown procedures. iPECS can also integrate with alarm systems and StaffAlerter for both emergencies and for issues when only employees should be alerted, such as when a freezer door is left open.

This range of features sets the iPECS platform apart from competitors. iPECS systems can function as a complete local alarm control server, as well as a communication service.

We would like to say a very big thank you to Bob and Matt from PM for presenting their unique insights. The next iPECS Insights session will be scheduled in 2022. We hope to welcome you then to share your thoughts and learn from our industry experts.
