Our latest September iPECS Insights edition, ‘iPECS Unified updates’ was hosted on Tuesday 24th September by Ericsson-LG Enterprise Sales Engineer, Hangsuk Cho, bringing exciting news for partners around the globe.

Many members of our community tuned in from Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Oceania, or the Americas, enjoying a detailed overview of critical updates, upcoming features, and key enhancements to the iPECS Unified platform, as well as important news about IPCR 3.5.

Here are some of the key highlights from this month’s session.

iPECS Insights overview

iPECS Insights is a monthly webinar designed to share important updates and developments with our global community. The event is not only a platform for delivering technical updates but also serves as an opportunity for partners to provide valuable feedback and suggestions for improving the program, participants can also engage during the live Q&A session, fostering a collaborative environment.

Unified 6.1 and 6.2 updates: enabling digital transformation

One of the key focus areas of the webinar was the latest updates for iPECS Unified, specifically versions 6.1 and 6.2. Hangsuk Cho went on to explain these versions in more detail.

  • Version 6.1.21 introduced an exciting new feature: Webhook integration with iPaaS (integration Platform as a Service). This capability is a game-changer for digital transformation, enabling iPECS to send HTTP requests to iPaaS and automate processes like customer contact management and emergency control. This feature opens the door to seamless integration between applications, data, and processes across multiple platforms with minimal coding, streamlining operations for enterprises.
  • Version 6.1.31 (released in May 2024) followed up with crucial support for Google FCM updates, ensuring continued smooth operations for iPECS users relying on this feature.
  • In July, version 6.2.1 was launched with added support for Microsoft Hyper-V, providing an ideal solution for businesses using Hyper-V as their virtualization platform. This update also included two advanced networking features, catering to larger projects and complex needs for partners.
  • Most recently, version 6.2.3 was released in response to evolving Google and Microsoft SMTP service policies, ensuring that iPECS Unified remains compliant and adaptable to external service changes, thus maintaining business continuity for users.

Unified FAQs: addressing common queries

Next, Hangsuk Cho went on to address several frequently asked questions regarding iPECS Unified during the session. These included:

  • License file for redundancy slave systems: There is no license file required for slave UCP, providing clarity for those setting up redundant systems.
  • Clarifications were also provided regarding vUCP online licenses, vUCP free trials, and Web API integration, helping partners better understand and utilize these features in their deployments.

IPCR 3.5: enhanced security and user features

During this session, Hangsuk Cho also introduced important updates for IPCR 3.5, including a shift to Rocky Linux 9.2 for better performance and package upgrades designed to bolster security hardening.

Additionally, Hangsuk Cho introduced new functionality tools, such as allowing users to download all voice recording files, simplifying data access and enhancing usability.

Looking forward: future enhancements

The webinar concluded with a glimpse into the future of iPECS, with discussions around upcoming trials for vVOIMT and UCM cloud readiness. Ericsson-LG Enterprise also stressed the importance of collaboration and innovation within the iPECS community, highlighting the benefits of, and desire for, the return of in-person meetings.
