PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA
Phnom Penh is the capital and most populous city of Cambodia. It has been the national capital since the French protectorate of Cambodia and has grown to become the nation’s primate city and its economic, industrial, and cultural centre.
The city was nicknamed the “Pearl of Asia” for its early 20th century colonial French architecture, which included Art Deco works.
Phnom Penh is in the south-central region of Cambodia and is fully surrounded by the Kandal province. The municipality is on the banks of the Tonlé Sap, Mekong, and Bassac Rivers. These rivers provide freshwater and other natural resources to the city.
CLIMATE
Phnom Penh has two main seasons: wet from June to October and dry from November to February. The wet season is characterized by high humidity and temperatures brought by the southwest monsoon, with average highs reaching 35°C. The dry season is cooler, with overnight temperatures dropping to 22°C. The best time to visit is during the dry season from November to February, when the weather is warm and less humid. Average temperatures range between 22 and 35 degrees Celsius.

Royal palace
The Royal Palace Of Cambodia is a masterpiece of Khmer architecture which serves as the official royal residence of the king of Cambodia. Its full name in Khmer is the Preah Barom Reacheaveang Chaktomuk Serey Mongkol.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum

Killing Fields (Choeung Ek Genocidal Center)
Choeung Ek, located about 17 km south of Phnom Penh, was a former orchard turned into a Killing Field by the Khmer Rouge from 1975 to 1979. Linked to the Tuol Sleng detention center, it is the most infamous of over 300 Killing Fields where more than one million people were executed during the Cambodian genocide. After the regime’s fall, victims’ remains were exhumed from its mass graves.
