In 1991 the first GSM phone was launched in the UK market. This, combined with the deregulation of the telecoms industry prompted a revolution in communication technology in the country. This change formed the basis for the now well-known UK reseller channel and was supported by one product in particular.

Originally known and marketed as Goldstar, Ericsson-LG Enterprise launched the GSX Key telephone system in the UK market. This launch was facilitated by David George, Tracy Jackson and the team at Crane Telecommunications. The launch was hugely successful and prompted the development of a longstanding partnership between Ericsson-LG Enterprise and Crane.

From this successful launch 30 years ago, Ericsson-LG Enterprise has taken the same approach when working alongside the UK partners, with our products, service and support being shaped by the feedback and recommendation of the UK channel.

Many things have changed since 1991. The Goldstar brand is today known as Ericsson-LG Enterprise and Crane Telecommunications has been replaced by Pragma, founded by David George and two former Crane employees Tim Brooks and Will Morey. The products have also changed. The UK market are fantastic innovators in the Cloud market, being early adopters of UCaaS technology.

One thing that has remained the same is the fantastic relationship between Ericsson-LG Enterprise and our UK channel partners, as Pragma Managing Director Tim Brooks made clear, “As a vendor, they are as relevant today with their UCaaS proposition as they ever have been, a strategy that has been fulfilled by their total commitment to the channel. Resellers can invest with confidence, knowing that the solutions are delivered by Ericsson-LG Enterprise and will focus on the needs of their customer base. Having been involved with the brand in its different forms for over 30 years, I’m hugely proud of our relationship at the forefront of the Ericsson-LG Enterprise global partner community.”

Ahed Alkhatib, Ericsson-LG Enterprise head of Global Sales and Marketing added, “our partnership with the UK Channel is the driving factor for our success in the market. We understand and recognize the value our partners bring in order for us to deliver the capabilities of our technology to the market. We remain focused and committed to innovating and continuing the iPECS transformation journey and are sincerely grateful for your continued support.”

We would like to use this milestone to thank team Pragma and Crane, as well as all of the resellers and partners across the UK, old and new, who have worked alongside us to create the fantastic UK Channel.
